Last Saturday, I packed a backpack, a pair of hiking boots, and a thermos of tea, and set off for a 12‑kilometre walk along the Northumberland coast. The sea spray, the sound of gulls, and the sudden burst of wind that lifted the dunes made the whole journey feel like a mini‑vacation.
